The Chestnut when it first appeared was thought to be a Dilute Chocolate but was soon discovered to be a colour mutation in it's own right.
A good coloured Chestnut is beautiful looking bird, difficult though to get consistent colour in your stock. Many birds in the UK have their origins
in Imported Continental birds where they are called Moka Bruin. In 1981 The Chestnut was accepted by the NBFA as a separate mutation.
